BIPBA’s aims
Each member is committed to:
- Increasing battery recycling rates from the current reported level of 42%.
- Improving the safety of button and coin cell batteries to prevent and flag cell ingestion.
- Enhancing the performance of batteries by driving product improvements.
How do we do this?
We work with Government, retailers and manufacturers to encourage and promote greater recycling and drive safety and performance innovations
What batteries do the members produce?
Our members produce portable batteries. These are the common cylindrical-shaped cells for sale in retailers such as supermarkets and toy stores. Examples of equipment that use batteries produced by our members’ include:
Our members produce some rechargeable batteries but BIPBA does not represent producers of larger lithium-ion batteries that are commonly found in e-scooters and e-bikes.
